    Cameos: Lily, Masami, Frances

For the Dream Issue, we asked Lily, Masami, and Frances to tell us a little about their foundations for dreaming – their current joys and what's on their nightstands.

    Lily

What are your handles? @mypaldirta on Instagram.

Where are you from? I was born and raised in NYC, specifically Brooklyn. I have lived on and off in Hudson NY, and Brooklyn ever since I graduated from college. Right now I'm living in Hudson with my partner Matt who is a night chemist and horn master.

What do you do? I love writing pop songs and singing most of all. I do that a lot under my name. I also play music with my two best friends Ani and Nina as Palberta. I also play with my best friend Matt Norman as Lily and Horn Horse. I also collaborate with Andrea Schiavelli (Eyes of Love) and Paco Cathcart (The Cradle) a lot. Other than doing all that music, I work as a chef in a Waldorf school kitchen with a magical woman named Nicole LoBue who I love. I exercise a lot.

    What's your sun sign? Capricorn

Morning routine? Everything!! It's awful, my brain races all day and starts immediately. I always have too many thoughts to ever be comfortable so my anxiety is always high in the clouds.

What's on your nightstand? Water, book, phone, hair ties, a little donkey statue, a tiny frog statue and that's it.

What are you most excited about right now? My album that is going to come out at some point. Who wants to put it out? Anyone?

    Masami

    Handles? @masamihosono

Where are you from? I'm from Tokyo, Japan. I live in East Village, New York.

    What's your sun sign? Gemini

What was your New Years resolution? Keep healthy and take care of myself, my family and friends.

What is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning?? What to eat for breakfast.

What's on your nightstand? A favorite toy.

What is the scariest thing you've ever done for fun? I am a chicken and never try scary things for fun haha.

What are you most excited about right now? Opening a new queer bar in downtown. Because we need it!

What do you do? Creative director for VACANCY PROJECT, Model, Chef, Dog Dad

    Frances

Handles and sites? IG is @pigeondungeon.

Where are you from/grow up and where do you live now? Atlanta, GA; just moved back from Athens.

What do you do? I work in a record store...daydream, study history, read a lot, write, was a college radio DJ at WUOG in Athens for many years & was the general manager there, do vocals for Atlanta hardcore band Nightterror (we're playing with Krimewatch in a week—I can't believe it), play bass, karaoke, been drawing comics, get free coffee from my friend who works at the coffee shop, get free food from my friend who works at the restaurant, walk around, lift weights, dance, see my grandparents, see friends, kiss

    What's your sun sign? Virgo

What was your New Years resolution? Never have a boyfriend again, have sex with many people at once.

What is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning?? What I dreamt, which usually makes me say, "Oh my god, that was absolutely the craziest dream I've had." The problem is is that whoever is in my bed usually doesn't want to hear about my boring dream, so I have to inform my friends in our dream-sharing group chat. Then 'coffffeeeeeeeee....neeeed cooffeeeeeeeee...."

What's on your nightstand? I don't have a nightstand right now, but when I did, there was a lamp with a red light bulb in it, a candle, a small glass with some gardenias, a polaroid picture of my friend Dianna and I at a nudist resort holding a bowl of loquats, some books: A Literate Passion (the letters of Anais Nin and Henry Miller), Selected Poems of Adrienne Rich, The Eye of the Heron by Ursula K. Le Guin, a copy of Sonogram of a Potential, an old notebook, a small manila envelope with a letter inside written by my friend Matt, a postcard that says "Viva la commune" on it, a small teal envelope with a broken seal that has a secret poem inside transcribed by my friend Madeline. I know this because I took a picture of my nightstand when I had one.

What is the scariest thing you've ever done for fun? I can't give my honest answer, but jumping off cliffs into water is great.

What are you most excited about right now? Watching my friends fall in love, falling in love with each other with ourselves and everything again—laughing together, communicating our desires; I didn't like poetry at all before this year so that too

    Shoutouts?
