Chicago Zoo Employee Fired for Calling White Customers “Rude”
Somebody should give this girl a job as a social media producer.
Two days ago, Shana Latrice posted a selfie to her Instagram with the caption “Wassup y’all. At work serving these rude ass white people.”
You’re probably thinking: great selfie, great caption, definitely deserves a fave, maybe even a comment, because fuck rude customers everywhere and fuck minimum wage service jobs. Unfortunately Shana has some shitty insta followers, or perhaps because she tagged her workplace – Brookfield Zoo in Chicago, Illinois – her post ended up getting circulated on the Internet and then reported to her bosses, who fired her.
The hate campaign against her is depressing. A Facebook group called “I stand with Shana Poohpooh Latrice” is full of racist bigotry because, of course. And if you search her name you’ll find pages and pages of patronizing news articles teaching kids not to say mean things about white people if they wanna keep their $7.5-an-hour service jobs.
Ironically, all these rude ass white people being offended by her Instagram post is just the pinnacle of whiny customer entitlement. Only people who experience great anguish at having to eat their sandwich with mayo when they ordered aioli would have so little to do in their life that they need to get behind a campaign to get a young woman fired for not liking them. As if that’s the worst thing a service worker has ever secretly done to rude customers! If only they knew how much semen, pee, and nail clippings they have consumed over the course of their entitled lives!
But hey, for real. That was a great caption. Somebody should give this girl a job as a social media producer.
