EKIM Brings the Emotional Trap
Back in February, we made an appearance at the UPNY Clothing New York Fashion Week event (think: throwing a party in a cramped cubicle). Just as we were about to leave we caught a performance from sad-girl trap artist EKIM. In the middle of her performance, where she rapped about smoking an eighth a day and crying over an ex-boyfriend, she was interrupted by a call from her grandmother and the whole place erupt with laughter.
This week, EKIM dropped her self-titled EP, bringing us more emotional trap tracks. Singing about partying with her fellow Muslim girls (she was born in Istanbul and raised in New York) and almost OD’ing, EKIM reminds us of those mornings where we woke up with no recollection of the night before.
